Toy Care
Quentin’s SHEEF Toys
Thank you for your purchase from my line of Platinum cure Silicone toys! Please follow the guidelines below to ensure your product will last and give you many years of pleasure from your new toy(s)!
CLEANING
- Before using a brand-new toy make sure to wash it thoroughly with warm water and soap. We recommend a similar thorough wash after each use. Always dry your toys before storing them again.
- My silicone toys are dishwasher safe, even on the sanitize cycle, or otherwise can be placed into boiling water. Make sure to place the toy in a flat part of the rack that doesn't have any pointy parts. Remove the toy from the dishwasher at once after washing to avoid indentations from the dishwasher rack.
You may also disinfect toys after each use by rubbing them with 70+% isopropyl alcohol.
Some lubes (oils and silicones) can be harder to fully wash off. If your toy starts to trap odours or becomes tacky, you can wipe the toy with an acetone dampened cloth to clean off any residue on the surface. Make sure to wash the toy thoroughly after cleaning it with acetone.
STORAGE
- Please store your SHEEF Toys separately from any other toys and on a smooth surface and avoid sharp objects (as they may damage your toy or cause indentations). While my toys are platinum cure silicone and otherwise non-reactive, unfortunately other sex toys are not all created equally, and contact with less expensive toy materials like urethanes, rubbers, and lower grade silicones can break down, melt, discolour, or cause irreparable damage to platinum cure silicone toys. This includes Vinyl, Jelly, or other Silicone Blends. You may safely place them in a Ziplock bag so they can stay isolated from other toys. You’ve invested in a high quality and hand-crafted toy, so be sure to keep it safe so you can enjoy it for many years to come.
- Store your toy on a smooth surface. Avoid sharp objects or uneven surfaces as they may damage your toy or cause indentations.
- Toys should be fully dry before being put away for storage.
- Silicone can be cut by sharp objects or contact with abrasive surfaces. Tears in silicone will make your toy more vulnerable to ripping, so please don’t damage or abuse the toy or use it in any rough ways. This includes Biting, Cutting, Scratching, Puncturing, Burning, etc. If you have sharp fingernails, this may also gouge or leave permanent indentations in silicone toys, so please treat your toys with care.
LUBES
- Water Based: Water based lubes are a great choice for use with your toys. They are the most inert lube choice, and they clean up very easily.
- Oil Based or Grease: Crisco and coconut oil are popular oil-based lubes that stick to the toy surface. Grease can't be used with vinyl or latex so be careful with condoms. Grease won't damage silicone.
Silicone Lubes: While silicone lubes should not damage platinum silicone and we have never seen new silicone lube damage our toys, there is enough anecdotal evidence about toys being damaged by silicone lube that we don't recommend it. We expect that the damage reported by silicone lubes is not caused by the lube itself, but by contaminants that have gotten into the lube from prior use with vinyl or jelly toys. When you use a lube bottle in play with vinyl toys, some of the chemicals from the vinyl can make their way onto the lube bottle and stay there. Then when you play with the same lube bottle and your platinum silicone toys those chemicals are transferred over. Since the silicone lube can't be fully removed it holds those chemicals in place on your platinum silicone toys causing a slow breakdown of the material. The safest option for your toys is to stick with lubes that are more easily cleaned, like water based or oil based lubes.

Please note: I will not cover any damage to toys which include “melting” of my SHEEF toys due to storing them with other incompatible toys, or using incompatible silicone lubricants that may make your SHEEF toy tacky or permanently sticky. Under regular use, and with water-based or oil-based lubes, this will never happen.
Some facts about high quality platinum cured silicone toys:
- Silicone is hypoallergenic
- Silicone is inert and non-toxic that won’t leach any harsh or harmful chemicals that could hurt you or the environment.
- Silicone is temperature resistant and can’t be damaged within it’s normal temperatures of -54°C (-65°F) to 232°C (450°F). This means you can safely throw it in the dishwasher, or even boiling water to sterilize/clean it, otherwise be sure to wash it with soap and water after use.
Regardless of which toys you’ve bought, I only use platinum cure silicone products and Skin Safe additives from Smooth-On that all have both Safety Data Sheets, as well as Skin Safety Certification.
